Last photo for the year…2012

As Max and I headed out into our misty, pre-dawn morning walk- our last of 2012 – I could not help but tell Max (promised, actually) that 2013 was going to be an even better year.
I can’t discount the gifts that 2012 brought me, not the least of which was relatively good health and good times for me and my loved ones, but it did also bring some wounds, as Max can attest to, poor guy.  We found and lost Pearl, we lost my uncle, spent most of the year spectators to: a divisive and tiresome election, a Mayan doomsday prophecy, dramatic and destructive weather disasters, a paralyzed government, and mass murder in the places we used to feel safest.
I am happy that none of these national and international calamities touched my life personally, but it was still gut-wrenching to witness.
I didn’t always keep up with my photos every day, but the great thing is, I have a New Year to try again, and I am grateful for that.  In a big way.
“And ye, who have met with Adversity’s blast,
And been bow’d to the earth by its fury;
To whom the Twelve Months, that have recently pass’d
Were as harsh as a prejudiced jury –
Still, fill to the Future! and join in our chime,
The regrets of remembrance to cozen,
And having obtained a New Trial of Time,
Shout in hopes of a kindlier dozen.”
