I can’t describe how much it pleases me when my birthday and the first day of autumn coincide. It is by far my favorite season, and this year it begins today, my 44th birthday.
Autumn in Arizona isn’t exactly sweater weather, not until November, anyway. But today we definitely were blessed with double-digit temperatures, a cool breeze, and cloudy skies. It was a great birthday gift, to go along with the wonderful blessings bestowed on me by friends and family.
“[T]hat old September feeling… of summer passing, vacation nearly done, obligations gathering, books and football in the air…. Another fall, another turned page: there was something of jubilee in that annual autumnal beginning, as if last year’s mistakes and failures had been wiped clean by summer.” ~Wallace Stegner
