We had a torrential downpour today in the Valley of the Sun and it was most welcome. While the occasion did not fit the bill of the Carpenters tune: “…rainy days and Mondays always get me down” since it absolutely did not bring me down, the song stuck in my head anyway. We’ve had several days of rain now, and I am so pleased to end the summer this way.
I say end, but in reality we will most likely suffer through another few weeks of triple digit heat. But as much as we like to complain about the heat here in Arizona, it is akin to the winters other parts of the country suffer through. In short order, we will be enjoying divine weather while most of the country is in the grip of sleet, snow, and ice. So I tell myself every day!
For the man sound in body and serene of mind there is no such thing as bad weather; every day has its beauty, and storms which whip the blood do but make it pulse more vigorously. ~George Gissing
